The Meat & Wine Co Southbank 3006

The Meat & Wine Co provides one of the best steakhouse experiences in Melbourne. Located in a newly renovated building, our Southbank restaurant sprawls across three levels boasting wood panelled walls, leather booths, African-inspired interiors and an open kitchen. You can find us in the Freshwater Place precinct with a remarkable view overlooking Queensbridge Square, the Yarra River and the cities skyline. Expect a warm blend of design featuring concrete cladding, solid timber and metal cladding accents stretching through the dining area and private rooms with allusions to African heritage through patterns, textures and artifacts.

Steaks, ribs & skewers, plus a long wine list, in a sophisticated, Afro-centric chophouse.

Food is always of high quality yet not consistent. Sometimes the pork belly and calamari entrees have way too much chilli. The steaks are always top notch however the sauces could be a little thicker. The cocktails are fantastic!

We went here for lunch with a voucher from our children. The food was amazing. We ordered the steak with mushroom sauce and pepper sauce. We also had the chicken skewer, Chips and a salad. We also got the calamari to share for entree and desserts which was blueberry tart and orange creme brulee. Everything was great, food and service amazing. I think it would be beautiful at night with the shades up and the lights, overall a great experience.

Usual lunch hang out for an amazing steak and the best onion rings. Such a great lunch value to have beautifully cooked calamari, tender steak and yummiest onion rings. Tried the blueberry tart and it was amazing too!

We had a lovely dinner tonight. Food was exceptional, our steaks were cooked well, pork ribs, tender and flavourful, Tasty scallops & calamari, Truffle mac & cheese sensational as usual. Affogato and frangelica to end our night. Friendly service from the girl who showed us our table. Overall good experience except some staff seems lost and inexperienced. We always had a good meal in Meat & Wine Co Perth and today Melbourne live up to our expectations. Highly recommended

A really good fine-dine experience, had a bottle of Shiraz to accompany the Monte Rib-eye steaks cooked to perfection (tried both peppercorn and creamy mushroom sauces). We also ordered pork ribs and staff suggested the African hot chilli sauce to accompany it, which I think was a combo made in heaven (ps chilly sauce is not for everyone but with barbecue ribs tastes wonderful). Staff was really attentive, introduced themselves and suggested some good options which added an extra star to our experience. We were served by Eva and another gentleman, service from both was top-notch. I always wanted to try and it was my first time here and was not disappointed. We also tried their crème brûlée and it tasted amazing (we’re so full by then could only muster strength for one dessert to share ). Really enjoyed our experience, would love to go back and try their skewers and aged steaks next time. Keep at it and thanks again for the experience.

Pleasant lunchtime dining experience here. The menu is varied with lots of healthy/veg options beyond the classic steak menu. I tried the roasted cauliflower and a tomato, crostini and goat cheese “salad” which were both fresh, well presented and well portioned. Taste wasn’t bad overall but they both lacked salt.

Steak tastes good but I am not a fan of lambchetta. Wagyu tartare is the most popular dish. Waiter is friendly and professional. My family had a great night here. XD
