Managed to get a table at 8.30am in the morning on a Saturday during carnival of flowers weekend. I had called first to reserve, but they weren’t taking bookings, however I was told it’s a fairly quick turnover so if you do have to wait it won’t be long. As it turns out, I didn’t have to wait at all. Lovely fella with a beard, got me seated, organised my coffee straight away. I ordered the Eggs Benny, which was delicious. There was very little time to wait between ordering and receiving food or drink.

Had the salmon tartare. It was literally finely chopped salmon with a tiny bit of onion, in a bowl. We had to ask for some sourdough. I’m no chef but, capers, some citrus, herbs, a sauce of some kind??? It was so boring! Then at 1.15 in the afternoon, old mate is sweeping under us and packing up tables beside us.
