Service is always quick here! Perfect for when you are super hungry. The unagi bento or don is definitely our favourite, but perhaps the only dish we go after. We think the quality of the dishes in general has gone down over the years. It used to be one of our budget go-to’s. But the beef tataki we had was super thinly sliced, and the sauce for it was quite different from other restaurants, the ginger taste was too strong for us. The sushi roll we had was quite average too with very minimal avacado. The curry udon was okay, but did not have any meat for the same price as a chicken curry rice don. Overall, food was okay, not bad at all. But you wouldn’t come here for authenticity and freshness of food. The prices have gone up. We would still come back for the unagi don, but that’s probably the only thing we would be getting.

Amazing food, good service and experience! I couldn’t believe how good the chicken katsu curry and Agedashi Tofu here. Not to mention Sashimi an the Beef teriyaki delicious. Will definitely be back!

Also very busy restaurant but cheap and very good food. Highly recommend chicken katsu curry and then the bento boxes for meals. If dining in, they offer hot tea for drinks and electronic menu to order from.

Overall the food was good. The takoyaki balls were a little funny. The texture of them was dense, perhaps not cooked thoroughly. Dengaku eggplant was a large portion, again could have done with more time cooking. The salmon, beef, and chicken katsudon were quite tasty.

I’ve been coming here since 1995 and have just returned after a long hiatus and was thrilled that quality of food was exactly the same! The signature dishes remained to which was nostalgic experience. Arigatō to the lovely original owners, this place has stood the test time.

One of the oldies ob the street, definitely a good one to go for and usually will have a queue during peak time. Thumbs up for the price staying relatively low and good quality of food stays!! Always ordered the same thing that’s prawn katsudon 🙂 Complementary tea makes up for the disappointment for being asked to pay the bill and leave after finishing our meal.

Best value for Japanese food in Melbourne. Good portion, fresh, and tasty. Our family have been regular customers for more than 10 years and never disappointed. Our favorite is chicken katsudon and is must dish to try!

Good value, quick, no fuss meal. Not the best cut of sashimi but generous with serving and variety of food in the bento box.
