Dined at Rockpool for an anniversary, and it was amazing! The service was so attentive and seamless, I ordered the skirt steak, and it was absolutely divine. The whole experience was really special. It might’ve had something to do with the green marble columns and jazz music.

Not only is this one of the best menus in Sydney dining, they have an incredible cellar, along with a stunning backdrop. I cannot recommend Rockpool B&G enough. Its a huge menu, however you can’t really go wrong. Desserts are lacking, but the savoury menu more than makes up for that. If you go on a Friday night they serve the date tart which is exceptional.

Dark dining hall. Very grand decor. Bar is even darker but available for dining. Wait Staff is courteous and fast. Kitchen is a bit slow as dishes came course after course with lengthy interval. I enjoyed the marrow salad. Very special idea. Could use a bit more leaves though. Hand cut chips and wagyu gravy were brilliant. Chips has little crunchy bits and can toss in gravy and spread on steak.

The vibe to this place on a Friday night felt much too casual, I found the bar a much more enjoyable space to be in. The steak tatare was finished with a Tasmanian aged cheddar and house-made crisps. While the serve of beef was generous, the absence of a soft egg made it feel like something was majorly lacking. The flavour of the cheese was heavier and took some shine off the excellent meat. The chips were excellent but there is very little value for money in the flathead dish. $57 for 2 fillets and nothing else substantial on the plate. The chocolate marquise with chestnut cream was very nice, but too much salt was applied on top of the whisky and caramel chocolate sorbet and it simply felt like a clash of saltiness and sweet in my mouth. Service was perfect, very attentive and top notch.

Absolutely loved this place when we came last year for our anniversary !! Our server was the loveliest person and constantly made sure that we were taken care of. The atmosphere was so relaxing and the dim lighting and quiet dining room made it a very comfortable experience. Food and experience was worth every cent, and I get cravings for the squid ink rice all the time. Steak was cooked exactly as my partner ordered, and all the food was just perfect.

We came here because we wanted to try the ‘best steakhouse’ in Sydney, and we were disappointed. We made a reservation but we had to wait, even though the restaurant was empty. On top of that, there was a minimum spend requirement per person.

Stunning food and the inside of the building is spectacular. My steak was perfect and the sides were all delicious. The staff were very attentive although there were some inconsistencies with our drinks. The first waiter recommended a martini and getting that martini again seemed impossible.

I would say the chefs at Rockpool cook the best steaks in Sydney. We had the dry aged steaks and it was absolutely divine! Rockpool was the first restaurant that actually can cook rare steaks for me. Most other steakhouses that I visited always end up serving me medium rare instead of rare. The waiters and waitresses were very attentive. The only reason why I gave 4 stars was because of the sautéed mixed mushrooms that we ordered, it was way too salty, the manager came to apologise and said that he would remove it from the total bill but he didn’t. Since the customer service in general was really good, we just paid the bill without making a big fuss about it.
