Food was not authentic and were not typical flavours that I expected with my dishes ordered. Strange tasting Tom Ka and green curry. A bit too much salt in a number of dishes. Perhaps we ordered all the wrong dishes.

Shocking service , no attention to detail. Waited 15 minutes for someone to take our order. I asked for all the food to come out together.well by the time the food did make an appearance I had almost started on the table leg. We waited 45 minutes for the main , and we only got that because I marched into the kitchen to see if they were still alive in there.

Quite a strange experience. The waiters, though nice guys were very amateur. You could overhear that there were quite a few mix-ups with orders going on around the restaurant – perhaps the waiters were new and in training? Our table top was sticky from not being cleaned properly. Our order was taken in a timely manner but mixed up, and it took about an hour for our food to come out. The restaurant was at less than 50% capacity. I ordered a glass of wine with my meal and it never came. I had to ask for it again. The glasses of wine were smaller than standard. We were tired of waiting and ready to walk out by the time our food came out. Atmosphere was relaxing and food was really nice when it eventually arrived but by that stage, we were beyond hungry and pretty over it to be honest. It’s a shame! I hope they lift their game as this place has good potential!

Great food and wine, the owners and staff are friendly, attentive and professional. My favourite dish is the Barramundi Curry , it is so good! I highly recommend the Red Orchid whether you want a romantic dinner, a catch up with friends or a large birthday celebration as they can cater for everyone. I booked last minute for my Birthday which fell on a Monday this year and had the best evening with 15 friends. This place is a little gem in Victor Harbor.

Called in here unexpectedly; we were going to have tea at the Hotel but after being advised that there was a 40 minute wait and we were still in the queue decided to try something else and we were pleased that we did. Mixed entree was so-so but the main meal of beef, broccoli and celery (with plenty of other vegetables) was delicious and we also enjoyed the special fried rice. Service was also great, quick, attentive and friendly. We could see that the other diners were also enjoying their meals. Would call again when we are next in Victor.

A one star is generous, particularly in relation to the service. As the restaurant was busy when we entered I asked what the wait time for a take away would be to be told 10 mi utes. As this was more than reasonable we proceeded to order only to be told after we had paid that the wait would now be 30 minutes. We left the shop and returned half an hour later only to be advised that our order was still in line to be cooked. I sat and waited…and waited…enquired of the poor young man who was becoming flustered, how much longer, was told it would be soon, waited longer and longer until we decided after an hour that we would cancel our order. Our meal arrived at this time however the owner was rude, unapologetic and full of excuses about how busy they were. I reminded her that is why I asked of the wait time to begin with.

Disgusting service and food. We ordered at 6.30pm. Got entrees at 8.00pm. Satee chicken which was not edible and over cooked. Exchanged for another just as bad. Main served at 9.00pm very average. Our friends got their entree 1 hour after their mains. Advertised BYO wine and charged $12.00 corkage. Will never go back even if you paid us.
