Mon Thai named after the owner and chef Monthira who was born in Chiang Rai, Thailand. Moved to Sydney in 2008 then started her career in restaurant. Many years of experiences in Thai and Asian restaurants in Sydney and Melbourne. She is falling in love with the smell of fire burn in the stove, taste of hot soup in the pot. Now Monthira is ready to persue her dream in a small Thai restaurant that serves you a home cooked meal in street food style. At Mon Thai, Zetland, you can hangout for lunch and dinner. Our food is always simple but delicious. Take home or order by applications are now available.

Delicious northern Thai food cooked with so much love and attention ❤️ could not fault any of their dishes!!! Also tried their dessert the pandan hot cakes and the steamed rice flour with the coconut fillings- both AMAZING!!!! Ordered 1 x takeaway (chicken & fried egg with boiled rice, simple dish). It was just after 12 noon on a Monday, in a near-empty restaurant – they said 10-15 min wait. Took a walk. Came back and not ready. Waited a further 15 min watching dishes for subsequent eat-in customers emerge. Chased again. They had not started even cooking mine. And my lunch break was gone. They refunded my money when asked but I was super unimpressed. Can’t wait for competition to open.

Excellent place for authentic Thai food. It can get quite busy during lunch but it’s worth the wait. Also must note the cost is quite reasonable. Food is very well presented and taste is great! The selection is also very large.

Wow, what tasty tasty food! They didn’t have my first choice for an entree, so I tried the fried chicken wings. They arrived fast hot and crispy. I also wanted to try the Khao Soi (chicken curry), man it didn’t disappoint it was delish!! Tasty, coconut milk based curry, with dried spices, pickles, onion, noodles and crispy noodle garnish. Oh my gosh this was tasty.

Great local place that is a true neighbourhood gem! Service is great, food is amazing and the portions are very good size. Every dish we have ordered has had lots of flavour, but one stand out for me is the roti! The crispiest, flakiest roti I have ever had and hands down the best, make sure to stick up when ordering from here!
