Le Café Flo 3071

Social Profile:

The warm sounds of Gainsbourg, Piaf and Françoise Hardy meets the rumble of the 86 Tram at the Paris end of Thornbury. The coffee is strong, the crêpes and galettes are comme à la maison and Astérix, Tintin and Le Petit Prince smile down on the sunny tables at Le Café Flo. Our sparkling host Monsieur Florian brings his heavily accented culinary flair and his world famous pear and chocolate tart from the charming Atlantic seaport of La Rochelle via 15 years at the vanguard of Melbourne hospitality. Baguettes, les oeufs, croissants, pain au chocolat, croque monsieur et madame bien sûr! But don’t forget to sample classic French dishes of the day as you bask in the friendly village atmosphere of the Psarakos Market precinct.

Same as the other recent negative review. Ordered the quiche, it took too long and was cold.

Quaint little cafe on the corner of High and Normanby. I’m surprised by the previous reviews about lack of service as I had a great experience on a Friday morning. Between 4 we ordered 3 x sweet crêpes and 1 omelette. The omelette was loadddded and you have to pay 3 diff prices for extras, so be mindful of this as you’re building it.

Below average food. The croissant and pain au chocolat were not crispy, felt like old pastries. The galette was too fried. This could be the reason why the chef do not fold the galette the usual way. Only eaten half of the steak baguette. As a Frenchman, it feels like the cafe is trying to rip off Aussies by selling bad food at a high price using the French reputation.

I had a very enjoyable lunch time with my friends here. The food was super great, staff Indi was very friendly, and two kitchen guys Jenish and David were really attentive in separating our meals. Loved everything here.

We came for breakfast on a weekday morning and the place empty. The server was very nice and helpful on some of the more popular items. The kitchen wasn’t quite ready to open yet, but the chef quickly prepared himself and we were able to order within a couple of minutes. We had a baguette and a crepe. The bread and the ham were delicious. The baguette itself was soft inside and crusty on the outside. Lovely. We also had a lemon and sugar crepe. The crepe was a bit gluey though and tasted a little like onion. Maybe the grill was used to cook something else beforehand. Very cute decor.

My favorite place to enjoy a galette. Their galettes were always heartly cooked and they offer a wide range of toppings to choose. Any hot and cold drinks with Chantilly cream were the best; a must to order. Prices match the food quality.

I’ve been wanting to eat here for years. Finally got the chance and bitterly disappointed with the service, so much so I didn’t wait around for dessert. All fine when I sat down (although the table was sticky and didn’tlook particularly clean). When asked and ready to order, the waiter simply walked away. The staff spent most of the time with their backs to the customers, dancing to the loud music. I waited 20 mins to be served. The food came out quick and was exceptional. Then I ate and waited another 25 mins for my plate to be cleared, it never was. I got a few smiles, I even beckoned for the staff to come over, I just got smiles, then the waitress proceeded to have a conversation with a random guy who walked past in the doorway, stopping anyone coming or going (nice hair trwirling though). The person next to me was equally as frustrated, ate half her meal and left. They missed an extra $20 on my order with dessert and coffee through lack of service. Complete waste of my time.
