We used to go 4 times last year 2022 spending $70-$90 per visit and it has gone downhill in terms of quality and quite stingy with the ingredients . Then I brought my parents back lunch in feb 2023 and it was still ok. This time the cooking skills has downgraded and I understand everything has gone up in price but if you maintain the balance and right quantity of ingredients versus prices, past or regular customers will keep coming back . For tonite it is not the case. The grilled salmon sushi was thinly sliced and you grab it the whole sushi falls off and mainly tasting vegetables. They used to give yellow ginger and now pink ginger as yellow one is more expensive. The eggplant was thinly sliced and filled with oil and batter and the karrage was soggy and not crunchy no more And looks like it was pre fried and not coated well ( meaning they have cut down their coating) and if you see the “junior cook “behind then you know why. I think there were older ladies in the kitchen and they no longer there . I understand you trying to save cost but is not the right way to maintain your business.

We ordered Aburi Don and Kaisen Don. All ingredients were fresh and can’t complain. The portions were a slightly small by themselves but perfect if you order other entry or sashimi.

It was a gorgeous experience. The sashimi were super fresh and they were the highlight of the dinner. Perfect chicken marinated for the karaage and Takoyaki (octopus balls) were a huge portion. We couldn’t fit anymore main dish so we opted for the udon that were condensed so much umami flavors.

Kou Sushi doesn’t take bookings so I’d recommend getting there when they open if you don’t want to wait for a table. Once seated, we were advised there is a 90min seating time. BYO is $3/person (seems a bit steep imo).

Sashimi was very fresh, and especially kingfish was delicious. The variety of assorted sushi is good and delicious. Overall, this restaurant serves the best quality food among casual sushi restaurants.

Delicious. Korean Japanese. Karaagae and Katsu Curry 9/10. Too much cabbage overwhelms the taste of the sushi and a rather weird, dare I say it, Korean addition (which left a bitter after taste) 2/10 (would be 8 minus cabbage). Udon is 9/10 – Superb dashi!! Charming overall. Recommended.

This is a small little tucked away sushi store but it packs a punch! The prices are very reasonable and the portions are good. The menu has many items on it although I think they’re more well known for their sushi (nigiri and rolls). On the night we went they were unfortunately sold out of quite a few things but the dishes we ordered were still great. Special mention to their tuna, which is the best Ive had in any Perth restaurant. Most likely you will need to book in order to get a spot so plan ahead and try them out! For the price it’s some of the better value Japanese you’ll find in Perth.

A little hidden gem on Great Eastern Hwy, super busy and delicious. Everything was delicious, there’s was a big line and we were lucky to get in a tad earlier. The sushi and sashimi were the best. We felt the tempura was too heavy for us. They are BYO too!
