Dropped by for wednesday lunch, not too busy, which was great. Beer paddle $20 was great except for one cracked glass. Food took 45mins to arrive, ordered chicken burger and chips ($26) and fish and chips. Chips were warm, onion rings cold. Fish was good. Overall not very impressed with food service.

Perfect location overlooking the water. Great variety of drinks and a fantastic menu. $7 schooners in a Sunday was an afternoon well spent! Highly recommend.

50 minute wait for our food, restaurant would have been less than half capacity. Wait staff drag their feet around with sour looks on their faces, if they don’t want to be there, then why are they? Overpriced menu, quality of produce certainly doesn’t match the asking price. Don’t think I’ll ever go back for a feed!

High hopes for this venue were quickly dashed by lack lustre staff, dirty menus and cold poorly arranged decor. Only 8 other people eating and our table of 3 received our meals all at different intervals- I didn’t receive mine while the first was already finished. Food average, same standard pub food, nothing special.

Updated review: If this place was a dinner, it’d be meat and potatoes (which isn’t a compliment I’m sorry). Still not very impressed with the Pier since it’s take over. The playlist is still catering to a dying generation, the live music is much the same for the most part. The decor is just bland and reminds me of a sterile conference room or something. The food is average. A couple of decent dishes, but overall I’d only be going there for the beer (which isn’t bad) and the glorious view. The staff are also really nice. I miss the old Buttons sours and their interesting selection of beers. But there are still some reliable options going. The spirits range is utter rubbish though… What gives? I feel like they must have blown the alcohol budget on merch and baby blue paint.. Places like this can push culture forward or hold it back and the Pier is definitely doing the latter. Reminds me of a lot of generic places on the mainland that went out of business when decent venues started popping up. But let’s be real, it’s North West Tasmania. Ulverstone is a retirement village so it’s probably hit the mark and I’m just not the target audience (i.e. I’m under 65). In all, it’s still better than getting stabbed at the Lighthouse
