To begin, the omakase was a bit pedestrian to be honest (the dishes were good enough but nothing out of the ordinary – I’m personally not that impressed by caviar ‍♀️) until the tempura courses began and then they were on fire Light, crisp, bursting with flavour and matched beautiful sauces and emulsions. I also loved the creative idea of eating one tempura dish with a touch of curry powder The revelation however was the abalone cooked in its liver – an explosion of flavour I’m usually not a huge fan of Japanese desserts but the sweet end of the meal was also excellent – great sorbet and a coconut ice cream based dessert. We were also impressed by the sake available, which didn’t pander to the usual “highly polished rice produces best sake mantra” and we tasted some of the best and unusual dry sake we’ve ever had. The chef was happy to chat away to us and it was a great atmosphere all round. We ended on a high!

We went here for our anniversary and it was wonderful. The dishes were unique and a different experience to other Omakase that only serve sushi and sashimi. The tempura is fried in front of you so you are able to watch the chef’s expertise. We were plenty full after the session.

My very first omakase experience and it was nothing short of my expectations. The winning point came from the tenderness of the meat; I’ve never had grilled octopus so succulent, lobster that juicy nor waygu so lean but tender. There are 12 dishes, each exploring different ways to cook a different type of meat, the garnishes and seasonings add to the natural flavor of the meat chosen without overpowering it. My favorite was the scallop dish. My least favorite was probably the dessert, sadly (due to the flavor- I think it was sweet potato based). HACO is a great place to go if you’re not overly into seafood as it is more of a tempura omakase. My partner never liked sashimi but loved the food here. I would also highly recommend pairing the food with their sake, which the service staff will help with your choice of sake for the night. Unfortunately they only offer sake in 80ml or 700ml servings (by the glass or bottle) with no option for 300ml. I would say to drink by the glass otherwise you will be too full to enjoy the dishes. To be honest I was not a big fan of the atmosphere as there was minimal interaction with the chef (and junior chefs) apart from them explaining the dishes and the service staff who were quietly situated in the background attending to your every need including water top ups and plate clearings (regular hospitality tasks). Additionally it was counter top seating (FCFS) “around the kitchen” (a total of 5 couples incl. myself), and I was seated between 2 couples who were kind of snobbish, to no fault of the restaurant at all. However I suppose considering the cost to eat here ($210pp + 5% gratuity fee that I don’t find exceptionally justifiable from my experience) it would attract a certain crowd including myself ‍♀️.

we went HACO for our wedding anniversary. It was a decent experience with creative foods. All chefs were professional. Also I loved the small and private atmosphere as well. If anyone is looking for omakase in Sydney, I’d suggest this place.

We had a wonderful experience here in Haco. The food is very unique and creative, the service is amazing and we are very impressed by their attentions to details. The chef who served me accidentally touch the fried fish while serving, he immediate take the fish out and swap with a new one. My favourite dish here are the Foie Gras, the Fondue and the wagyu. Haco is a bit different from our traditional ideology of Omakase, they are contemporary and the menu is well balance. I would recommend anyone who is looking for a new and refreshing experience.

Four of us had nice dinning out. The place is small but comfortable, contain around 12 people. Food and service are great! One of friends reckoned food is a bit salty, but I think they were full of flavour in a good way!
