Great Italian restaurant with welcoming and friendly staff. We visited on a Sunday so the venue was heaving, but the food and drinks orders came out in a very reasonable time.

We went here for my partners birthday with a few friends and we had a great time. The cocktails were delicious, the food was good however I wish we tried a pasta dish, the steak was nothing amazing but all the sides were really good. We shared the 4 desserts and they were all delicious in their own way. The service was also very good.

The atmosphere and the staff were fantastic. However, truth be told, the food didn’t match its price. We were not impressed by the food. Although the pasta was shared between two, the pasta portion was still very small. We ordered a medium rare steak, but it arrived cooked medium well. On the bright side, we enjoyed the dessert.

The worse service ever for restaurant that charged fine dining price. I informed the waitress that the crab linguine taste very sour for a pasta dish. It taste like a vinegar crab pasta. But she told us that the pasta contain lemon. This is not the first time I had crab pasta and lemon is just to balance the taste, and shouldn’t over power the dish. They didn’t care about customer feedback and expect us to take it as it is. The rib eye steak taste super normal and it cost $145, my husband can cook better than that. The only yummy food for the whole lunch was the tiramisu. However, wont be going back and not recommend anyone to go. I should have take the negative google reviews of this restaurant seriously!!! So regretted to give it a try. Waste of money and ruined my day.

My lovely friend took me here for my birthday and it was a wonderful experience. Our waiter was friendly, we ordered the T-bone steak and it was the best steak I’ve ever eaten. I usually have my steak cooked a bit more but thought better to leave it to the experts and it was melt-in-the-mouth medium rare. We also had the crab linguine and octopus carpaccio which were delicious. We were full but wanted to try a dessert so we ordered the vanilla meringue cake. Oh yumm… it was delicious and the fluffiest cake I’ve ever had with airy torched meringue on top. I loved the whole experience. We both used to work at 101 Collins St so it was nice going back there, and I was amazed at how they transformed former shops into an elegant and trendy restaurant that is Grill Americano.

We love steaks and dessert, Grill Americano fit both of those. The scotch fillet was good and cooked the way I like it, my husbands rib eye was very over cooked, for the price paid, we were expecting better. The fries are a huge portion, but aren’t good either, they came out soggy, like the ones you find buying at your local fish and chip shop. The tiramisu was over priced for the portion, best part of the meal was the vanilla meringue cake, it was delicious. They have many options for dessert, would come back to just try more desserts. Staff were friendly, welcoming and chatty.

I feel quite foolish for falling for the “hype” of this place. Went with 3 friends for a recent 50th, and we swooned over the atmosphere and ambience, but unfortunately, that’s where the pleasantness ended. Even before we got our food, we were told that 2 of our chosen menu items were unavailable, but were promptly suggested an “alternative” for one of them. Being taken off guard and it being touted as a similar dish, we just accepted it. At no point were we told that the alternative was THREE times the cost of our original choice. We were also offered sparkling water, which has never been an issue at any establishment we have been to, so we were shocked to see the $50 bill for water for 4 people! We also had a dirty table for the duration of our meal, a waiter only coming to wipe it down just before dessert, when it was clear to all who had served us prior (we had 4 different staff attending our table at different times) that there had been a small accident that needed wiping. Even then, the debris was wiped off onto the floor instead of professionally contained in the napkin. Is this a food court or fine dining? Add the 15% surcharge (for 10 dishes total) and we agreed we wouldn’t be returning or recommending this place again.
