Our second time at Essa and we have been blown away by the dining experience on both occasions. Every bite of food was incredible, presentation and flavour are of the highest level. The wines (one our choice and one recommendation from the sommelier) were also delightful. The other thing that sets Essa apart is the intimate setting. Either at the standard tables or at the kitchen counter we’re both perfect. We will be back.

As someone who dines frequently, Essa has to be a new addition to my top 5 restaurants. Firstly, the food was gobsmackingly delicious. The prawn ceviche with macadamia cream was a combination I had not imagined and blew my mind. I also highly recommend the honey nduja for a sweet and savoury dance on the tastebuds. But the most notable dish of the night was the wagyu at $24 per 100g, it was insanely worth it for the most perfectly cooked steak. I personally find it hard to find a well cooked steak that doesn’t cost me an arm and leg but this was shockingly amazing. Overall, the total bill was surprisingly less than what I expected for such a memorable meal. Put this restaurant in Sydney and it would have easily cost double. I will definitely be coming back!!

One of the nicest restaurant I’ve been so far, food was amazing, my favourite the Nduja and honey with burnt bread and the pork for main, service was on point and the sommelier recommendations of wine couldn’t be more perfect he even got me a glass of a different wine as I didn’t like the one my partner choose . Will surely go back whenever I have the chance.

Was keen to try this restaurant based on the awesome reviews online and it was our anniversary so thought this would be ideal. But seriously, for $118 a head plus drinks for a 5 course Degustation menu, I did not expect to receive a starter dish of RAW celeriac chopped in to 4 pieces and dipping sauce, followed by grilled sour dough bread and essentially burnt butter!! Look, I will give credit where credit is due and I will say the wait staff were very attentive, the 3rd course of mackeral and 4th course of duck were superb, but that’s where my compliments end. The final dessert course was just bitter, too bitter! 2 out of 5 courses is just not good enough for the price, especially when there are so many good Degustation options in Brisbane! Sorry but the current seasonal Degustation selection just doesn’t cut it! #disappointed

A beautiful dark moody restaurant just off James street. We ordered the set menu and it was delightful. The farm plate was a pleasant surprise, each item was treated with such care and was delicate and delicious. The highlight was the nduja, the balance between sweet and spicy was perfect. The sourdough made it moreish, I loved it. The pumpkin dessert was the next favourite, there was an excellent texture to the sable and a great salty and sweet balance.
