My wife and I had a pleasant evening at the C.H. Thai restaurant on a quiet Sun night in Apr. As it was a fairly warm autumn evening, we sat outdoors, which was relaxed and cool, but with the huge overhead fan, this would be nice even during the height of summer. There’s an indoors dining area too, decorated in a rather utilitarian, industrial style with a stone floor and steel furniture. Outdoors seems more comfy with wooden chairs or upholstered bench-type seating.

This is our first time trying out this establishment. Our order was made in a timely manner, however my husband’s dish of the Chu Chee Soft Shell Crab was extremely bland and totally devoid of chilli. On the take away menu it does indicate the spicy level of only 1 chilli which we expected to be mild but there was absolutely no hint of any chilli at all which was quite disappointing. The Prawn Pad Thai was reasonably tasty, more than a descent amount of prawns in the serving, a little light on the sprouts and crushed peanuts but not to the detriment of the dish. We wouldn’t exactly class this as Thai street food, we have been to Thailand many times over the years and this did not really live up to our expectations. I doubt that we will be rushing back to order again.

Based on other reviews, I’m sure this place must do better at other times, and I don’t want to be harsh because I know it’s hard to keep a good standard at all times. Anyway, we went on Sunday evening. We were the only ones there to dine in, which was fair enough. A few others came for takeaway. We ordered first the crab net entree which was quite nice. Then we had the pork belly stir fry dish and the barramundi stir fry dish. The pork dish was mediocre. You got fed, but that was about it. The barramundi stir fry dish was like a clone of the pork one but with barramundi. I suppose that is the way it is. But the barramundi didn’t taste fresh to me and I had to stop eating the fish as I started to feel a bit revolted. The service was great and the young Scottish lass was cheerful and nice. The price was ok. I would give this place another go some time as I’m sure it must be better than this low standard. I just hope it’s not that Kenmore is boring and full of older people who have less expectations of good Thai food, so a lower standard is good enough for the punters that turn up.

Expect to pay around $75 for 2. Prices are $5-7 higher per dish in contrast to others. Quantities were very small for the price and price is also misaligned with the hard industrial decor and furnishings (and QR code menu). However, oh boy oh boy!… the food is beautiful! First decent massaman beef I have had in a while with chunky tender pieces. Soft shell crab seemed fresh, meaty and well above standards set by other restaurants (this was a shock). Fried Rice was among the top Thai fried rices. Ice milk tea was very refreshing. Most items have a decent quantity of sugar (common to most Thai dishes)

Green curry is perfect. Tastes authentic with a good punch of spice. Lovely Veg and chicken that is not fatty. I like how they leave a few small lime leaves in the dish. Eat around them or eat them with curry sauce for a big punch of flavour. Favourite Thai. Wishing this place every success. Ill be there once a week.

Best tofu green curry I’ve ever had. I’m a vegan and they happily omitted the fish sauce. Were also generous with the tofu, which was a really nice suprise after the stingy amount in other thai restaurants. And it was soooo delicious! I’m now a regular and extremely satisfied customer.

The food was delicious but the service was terrible tonight (no menus, had to ask for plates and then only brought two instead of three, forgot a dish (were very apologetic and refunded), we ordered at the counter (after standing there for ten minutes waiting) as no one came to us at our table, brought the wrong drink to be told later they didn’t have the right drink). People near us left because they weren’t served for ages and another table took the cutlery from other guests as they had food and nothing to hear with and the others had cutlery but no food. They’ve only just opened so hoping it’s just teething issues as the food was great and staff lovely, but it was very slow and no service despite there seeming to be lots of staff on at the time, but some just standing around not doing much. Will definitely give it another go in a few weeks and hoping things get better for them!

Sadly the food was terrible. Massaman beef tasted of nothing but cinnamon, Tom Yum friend rice was mushy and tasteless. Satay sticks and coconut rice were actually lovely however overall would not recommend based on our experiences.
