Just had dinner at Kauri Bistro tonight (20/9) and I could not wait to write this review as I am extremely disappointed.

Lovely food and service. The meals are very pricey but are high quality. You are paying for the convenience of being able to eat at your accommodation. The Lamb Yiros pizza was really good, would definitely recommend, particularly as it was one of the less expensive items on the menu.

Very bland salad. Tiny serve of sauce. Cold rare and partly raw steak. I’d imagine a place claiming to specialise in Cape grim beef would have the steaks on point. Left feeling hungry and disappointed.

This would be a 5 star review had the order gone in correctly.

We had the half shelf scallops, the lamb shoulders and the 450gm cape grim beef ribeye. The scallops are fantastic. The lamb shoulders dish can be more flavorful. The cape grim beef dish was awesome.

Ordered the southern style chicken 2 medium size bits chicken lucky to make up half a small chicken breast with a dollop of mashed pumpkin and table spoon calsaw. No chips nothing. Very disappointing. Last time it was twice as much chicken chips and salad..

My steak took 3 goes to cook and even then it wasn’t right. My husband’s steak was also over cooked but he doesn’t like sending food back so just ate it anyway. For the price they charged ($65 for the rib eye) I was very underwhelmed. The manager provided a discount given the experience we had with the cooking of our steak which was nice but I was still disappointed with the experience.

Absolutely appalling, walked into a half full restaurant on a Saturday night only to be turned away because they were only taking guests at the hotel which wasn’t stated on the website and there wasn’t any signage stating so either, otherwise we wouldn’t of made the drive out. The staff also weren’t very welcoming either. Very poor form as there isn’t many other places to eat.

I stayed MACq1 last week and I must say, both the food and the service at Tall Timbers were superior. Yesterday evening the staff were faultless and provided excellent recommendations. I’ll be coming back with friends

very disappointed in the $67 dollar steak I had ordered, I normally am not fussy at all with food, I came here with the expectations of this being the home of the cape grim steak and I was served with a very tiny peice of meat with a bland salad, would be fair to pay $30 or$35 for this meal but not there so called 450gram rib eye, very very disappointing
