Located on main street Katoomba, AVALON lies hidden behind an unassuming entrance. Make your way upstairs to find a unique and highly atmospheric venue, offering a decor of quirky retro finds. The menu combines influences from around the globe, while classic cocktails and retro tunes are served in the former refreshment lounge, now a cosy bar. Avalon offers an extensive list of local wines and craft beer. Musicians perform each Friday night for the popular Supper Club, High Tea is served on weekends. Bookings recommended.

We have never returned to the same restaurant ever…. except this one and I have never bothered to leave a google review and this is my first. This is a not to be missed epicurean experience in a quirky atmosphere that is all the more of an experience savouring the sublime jazz trio on Friday night. The same owners also run The Bowery as well.

Going back in time atmosphere, with a lot of vintage stuff around you. It is like you have been transported to 1920’ on an art deco tour. Lots of artefacts on display. Avalon restaurant has live music late in the evening, with a great European cuisine and a good selection of sweets. Highly recommended

We first went to the Avalon back in 2020 and fell in love with the food and atmosphere and have gone back for a dinner almost every year since. When it came to finding a venue for our August 2023 wedding, we looked at a few other venues before remembering how amazing the Avalon was. David, Dylan and their staff went above and beyond for our special day. Their humour and thoughtfulness made what could have been an incredibly stressful process, very simply and hassle-free. Many of the guests commented about how amazing the venue, food and drinks were and that they would be going back to the Avalon next time they stay in the mountains. We look forward to going back for our one year anniversary for a meal and to reminisce on what an amazing night we had. I could not recommend this place enough for your next event or a fabulous dinner.

A beautiful place to dine out to give yourself a treat. It’s clear that the owners have put a lot of thought and effort into preserving the decor and the feel of the place— including the musical acts that they hold. It’s nice to see live music being supported after Covid hit. I have been to the Avalon a few times to dine in the main room, the bar, etc. Each time has been wonderful. The food arrives quickly for its quality and the staff are friendly. A beautiful restaurant to accompany the feeling of Katoomba.

11 of us dined at Avalon this week and all agreed our meals were super delicious. The vegetarian eggplant dish was scrumptious and the Barramundi was so good! The staff were friendly and helpful. To top off our dining experience we really loved the quirky decor and atmosphere. Thanks Avalon for a fabulous night!
