We had dinner for 2 on Sat may 6th. The ambience (lighting, candle on the table, live music, lovely wine glasses set the mood 10/10 then the superb food, wine and service were excellent. Great find in Geelong. Newly opened Ambergris Hotel in Geelong has great atmosphere after just being completely renovated. We popped in for a drink and something to eat. While the atmosphere and staff were very good, unfortunately the food didn’t reach the same standard. The beef Madras was extremely ordinary. The pork was fatty, and the vegetables poorly cooked. Both meals lacked seasoning. Can’t recommend.

This hotel has such a great vibe! A restored goldrush era building with open fire and huge Chesterfield sofas. The food is very tasty and portions are generous. A highlight was the sourdough bread which was sliced to order and served with dukkah, oil and butter.
