We recently had a great feed of fish and chips from the Alder Street Fish & Chip shop. The night we were there Dean was busy taking customer orders and running the register while the rest of the team were doing their designated jobs too. It was like a well-oiled machine to see the crew in action on this busy night. We were very happy with our meals however the stand out for us was when we cut into the Flake it was a brilliant white. Some places the Flake is gray in colour and not very appetizing. Not the case here though. Well done!

Just ordered burgers with the lot and a couple of Fried pieces. The burgers were very good and hark back to the good old fish and chip shop burgers. We will get them again. Atmosphere was a take away store. Service was fairly quick as there were a number of large orders. I would say the Fried food was a bit oily for the couple of pieces we had so maybe they need to change the oil more often?

I’ve been going out for takeaway fish and chips for nearly 20 years and these are the best I’ve ever had. Brang back memories of having good ones in 2002 etc which haven’t really had since till coming here just tonight. Absolutely amazing

Food was dark and overdone. Could taste old fat in the fish chips and potato cakes. My grandkids like fish and chips but they did not eat it. It was very bad. Not again..

To be honest, I was very disappointed with the quality of food served. The fish was so overcook and the chips majorly undercooked. Just a soggy bunch of chips that probably needed to be cooked for a few more minutes. Asked for chicken salt and I think they threw a few pieces from 10 feet away. I used to frequent this shop until I moved to the other side of town and it was always good but I’m not in any hurry to go back.

Potato cake review: a dense and somewhat doughy batter which makes me think these are not made in house by the shop. The potato slices are thick and leave me wishing these had a crunchier batter.
