Katsu burger was very average, not Japanese style katsu but rather a schnitzel. Not a brioche bun and possibly not fresh as the base was quite hard. Overall a let down on the burger go elsewhere for burgers.

It’s a nice little spot. Staff are friendly. I enjoyed the sushi and bubble tea. The chicken karaage was too salty and small for almost $15. Would eat there again but not first choice.

Got the vegan tofu bowl for a quick lunch. Really delicious and fresh… so good. Will definitely go again. Nice people behind the counter too.

Not authentic at all, which wouldn’t be a problem if it tasted good. They didn’t add enough seasoning to the sushi rice, so it was very bland. One I had was also left sitting out for too long, so it tasted like it had been dragged in a sink. The seaweed they used was also strange. Wouldn’t recommend the sushi, but they had a good selection of drinks and friendly staff.

Great lunch experience with a nice mix of what you’d expect to find in a Japanese take-away store as well as hot options. Location is central and convenient.

This place has become my son’s new favourite takeaway spot… mainly because of the novelty Japanese drinks and sweets they stock! The staff are super friendly, and the shop is well designed. The sushi is very fresh, but could be more flavourful. I also find the rice a bit thick in the temaki rolls, and not traditionally seasoned, which does contribute to the ‘blandness’ people are reporting. The flavours of the fillings are getting lost with all the bland rice. More vego options would be good. The poke bowls have good flavours, but the ratio of rice to toppings isn’t great, there’s just too much rice which again is more of an issue because of the lack of seasoning. For the price I would like to see less rice and more flavour in the rice. We look forward to seeing Paper Cranes grow & improve.
