I wrote a review 3 years ago about how gross their “addictive” Gravy is, but had to delete it so I could write this new review. The flying fish was closed today and they are always great and we hear so many good reviews about Austin road and my mum said last time she ate there was great so thought we would give it a go. I ordered what I would get from the flying fish which would normally fill me. The potato cakes were flat there was more batter then potato and they were small they were over cooked the fish bites tasted weird same as the scallops. I asked if they had mars bars in batter they do but I wasn’t told they were bite sized so I got a tiny one if I knew that I would of ordered more it also had to much sugar on it again more sugar then mars bar, chips also had a weird powdery texture and I’m still hungry

Usually fish and chips from here is great. But last few times food has been overcooked so it’s just like you are eating batter. Not sure if oil needs to be changed or they just overcooking. Food was not edible.

I was informed by a friend about the Austin Road Fish n Chip shop claiming to have “highly addictive” gravy. The gravy was awful, straight out of a bulk buy catering bag; too much pepper, over-processed and watery. I wish the ICE in this suburb was like this gravy and then no one would be addicted.

Was pleasantly surprised by this fish and chips shop. I’d heard about it for years but always went to my regular elsewhere. My regular was closed so I gave this place a try and was really impressed. I had fried flake, potato cakes and scallops and they were all spot on. I’ll probably make them my new go to for great fish and chips.

Fast delivery, but it also showed fast isn’t always best. Fish was absolutely perfect, but potato cakes were cooked to long, whilst chips were undercooked/seasoned, and the Calamari whilst tender, was a soggy, undercooked mess! Have bought from them before, and it was good, so worth trying again??? Maybe a rushed night??
