Very popular cosy Italian restaurant with excellent service. Can be quite noisy due to the crowd but good spot for a nice meal.

Service was absolutely horrible. The lady at the front service desk was rude, unhelpful and made us the ‘customers’ feel unwelcome. We made an enquiry and booking more than half hour in advance before we drove there. We waited maybe not too long to be even noticed and acknowledged but that little so called time felt the longest time looking like we were a burden and rude to just walk in. Sorry if you guys were busy on a Saturday night, and had ‘other tasks’ but there’s always a way to deal with customer service with assisting us with assurance and kindness making us acknowledged and welcomed.

I know we booked late in the peace but we were made to feel so welcome and loved. The food to be frank was amazing and the service was incredibly attentive and perfect. All 3 courses were each light and impressive.

I had originally tried to make a booking and was sadly told there was no availability for dinner. We were only in Wollongong for a few nights. Not long after I received a phone call from the owner stating they had a table as they just had a cancellation. That was impressive as I didn’t leave my number.

Probably the very best Italian Restaurant I’ve been too, certainly here in the Illawarra. The food was delicious, the staff were fabulous with a welcoming vibe.

Shocking experience. We came today 16th of Sept. ’23 for dinner at around 7:30pm, received the most foul and unwelcoming vibe on arriving and requesting a table for 5 without a booking, despite having called in advance to check for the table, we were given no eye contact or acknowledgement from the blonde lady at the cash register/till. We stood for the longest 3 minutes ever, got no acknowledgement and decided to leave. Ended up going next door to La Cosa Nostra without a booking and received the best welcome and service with a smile. Ciao Cucina need to retrain their staff to respect and acknowledge all business without judgement or lack of empathy.

Spaghetti marinara was magical and I regret sharing it with my partner. Only negative was that they cook their Bolognese with wine (not mentioned in their menu) so I didn’t feel comfortable giving it to my toddler even though it’s on the kids menu.

Steak seems to have been seasoned only with salt and pepper, but the seasoning was just right, so no other sauce was needed. Proscutto and buffalo mozzarella cheese were also fresh and appropriate in quantity. It was successful. I should order dessert next time. There must be a reason why others recommend it.
