I have tried various amazing Japanese restaurants in Sydney so I didn’t feel impressed with the food here despite the good reviews. The food was okay. Chicken don buri with egg was of small portion for $20, the taste was decent. Sashimi and sushi platter was just okay, the sashimi didn’t feel too fresh to me and had some fishy taste. The curry chicken with rice portion was really small. The curry didn’t come with any potato and carrot in it, so the taste was as though it was from some instant Japanese curry paste. It costed $25, so the quality and portion really didn’t justify. The service was very good. The ambience was nice and peaceful too. I just hope they will improve on the food quality and portion.

I’ve traveled around Tokyo and eaten at a lot of Japanese restaurants but somehow the best chicken karaage I’ve ever tasted has been at this little restaurant in Ettalong, the batter was so crisp and light absolute perfection. All the food I had was very tasty but the Karaage was the star of the show! 100% recommend, looking forward to going back

We’ve eaten here twice and it seems to be on a steep decline. The karage chicken was a joke for $20, we received tiny shreads of chicked, thickly coated with batter. It was awful. The sashimi was good but exorbitantly over priced for the portions. Agedashi tofu was probably the best dish. I wouldn’t eat here again. I gave 3 stars for effort, but it’s probably worth 2/5.

Delicious food! You can choose from the menu or 3 different banquets. Cool jazz playing in the background. Friendly and efficient service. Highly recommended.

A few weeks back I visited here with a friend on the back end of a dinner service. No later than 7:45. Empty, messy tables scattered around the place had the head waiter tell us ‘sorry we are fully booked, but we can do takeaway, but have no salmon’. Yep, not for us. Heading back up from Sydney tonight, learning our lesson, we booked earlier in the day for an early sitting. 5:45pm. Can’t go wrong. Arrived on the minute to an entirely empty restaurant, and were ushered out into the corridor, due to time of day that we called. I headed back in to see if we could be moved inside due the cold breeze, and the noisy thoroughfare of people. No can do. ‘We are fully booked’. Okaaaay. Waited 20 mins for someone to come out of the kitchen to take our order. Another 25 to get food.

Regular paying customer turned away from getting my usual small takeaway order coz they were “too busy” but they weren’t even at full capacity, with a few tables still empty. Looks like they need to put more staff on as there was one cook in the kitchen and one guy doing everything else. Turning away regular customers is poor form. Won’t be coming back.

Disappointed tonight. Ordered the teriyaki beef and don buri beef and egg for mains. Don buri consisted of a few thinly sliced pieces of beef on an egg with a whole lot of rice. Teriyaki beef consisted of a few pieces of thinly sliced beef 25% fat and gristle. I know times are tough but c’mon. Gyosa’s for entree were nice. Service was also good.
