Came to try their (chicken) schnitzel. Impressed by its serving size. Taste good, chicken is tender and not too dry, but the crumbs are a bit hard. The salad (cabbage) with the spicing powder (not hot) tastes very good. The sauce is not served separately as in their photos, and makes the schnitzel soggy.

German style food, comes very close to authentic but is missing a wow factor.

During my recent 44 night stay in Sydney for work, I was in an Airbnb on Victoria St and only a few doors away from Una’s. I dined there on 4 occasions and every time I loved it. The food was wonderful, each time trying something new on the menu, the atmosphere was fun and jovial, and the service warm, friendly and genuine.

We had to wait a little to be seated though they’re not full yet. It took them nearly 15 mins for someone to come and take our order. Fortunately the food came out fairly quickly. The schnitzels were crispy, not oily, rosti well cooked but both felt under seasoned and lacked flavour including the mushroom sauce. The beer was good. The service was a bit chaotic despite having several staff. The place was popular on a Sunday evening. Overall it was ok.

If you’re looking for excellent value, this is the place to visit. The chicken schnitzel was generously sized and left me thoroughly satisfied. Our service was provided by the German manager, who boasts 12 years of experience at the establishment. Her upbeat and cheerful approach truly enhanced our evening. As a unique experience, I tried the cheese and fruit strudel, which was an absolute delight – a first for me, but certainly not the last. It was accompanied by a serving of ice cream. Despite only visiting Australia once a year to see family, I’m already planning to include this spot in next year’s itinerary. Kudos to Unas!

I love the Schnitzel with the Jägersoße (Hunter’s Sauce (mushrooms)). Unlike many Schnitzels in Australia in general, this Schnitzel taste like authentic Schnitzel back when I was visiting Germany and Austria, they served this with Rösti instead of chips.

The best and biggest chicken schnitzel in Sydney. For $25.40, we didn’t expect it to be so large, it’s the size of a football! Served with crispy potato rosti and slaw it is the perfect meal for a winters day. We also tried the smoked salmon sandwich toasted on brown Swiss bread and it was fresh, tasty and great value at $12.90. Service is friendly and prompt, atmosphere is homely and welcoming. There is paid street parking by the hour. If we weren’t so full we would have tried one of their desserts! We will definitely come back.

Right off the bat the owner (I believe) wouldn’t let me in to take a table, we had a group of 9 altogether, (I understand not taking bookings, just try to be a little nice about it) doninhas to wait outside on the cold for everyone to arrive!

Lots of food – large portions. Everything is sharable. Larger than US servings. Great beers. Fun people and atmosphere. Grabbed an outside table late night winter. Everyone is cold but us from Alaska lol.
