Good authentic Japanese food in the heart of Inverloch. Be warned — food is on the expensive side for country Victoria and portions are quite small. However, food quality and taste is bang on delicious that you forget what you’re paying. Agedashi tofu, soft shell crabs and seaweed salad are the standout starters. For mains, the cod, miso duck, and teriyaki beef (which is melt in your mouth) are must haves. Nice cozy place which is reminiscent of side-street Tokyo restaurants. Definitely recommended if you find yourself visiting Inverloch.

Excellent Japanese restaurant in Invy. We had miso soup – delicious salty weedy goodness, tempura – very good – I would prefer just asparagus/beans/sweet potato and prawns not potato and capsicum. We had large shashimi and sushi platter – all very well made and presented- seafood terrific probably straight off the boat. We had pork belly along the way – deliciously baked in the oven, tiny bite size morsels to share. Dessert we tried a crepe with japanese citrus icecream (yuzu) and also Harmony – a mix of icecreams and fruits – the latter was probably too large – would prefer a smaller serve and a nice presentation eg: on a nice black plate rather than parfait glass. Finally decor just needs a bit of work – suggestions from me – remove western art work and promos – stick to Japanese / dress waiters in some kind of traditional garb and set some light Japanese music. Do away with attempts to sell add ons and peripheral stuff. Stay . Great place – bookings essential $50

You would think that given they have cornered the market for Japanese cuisine in Inverloch that they could afford to take their foot off the gas pedal at Tomo’s, but the opposite couldn’t be more true. We were staying in Inverloch to celebrate a special occasion, and decided the occasion deserved Japanese, hence the dining experience at Tomo’s. We were very pleasantly surprised. In particular the soft shelled crab rolls were outstanding. So delicious. We also loved the fresh sashimi and miso duck. Not to mention the service was prompt and polite. Absolutely fabulous. I would definitely recommend this place and will be returning the next time we’re in the area.

Service was lovely. The food was fresh and piping hot but agree with other reviews that the food is a little on the salty side but we didn’t mind as we enjoyed the food with white rice. It’s very busy so make sure to book before coming (we only got a spot because of someone else’s cancelation). Came with the family. Maximum table sizes were 4

A small and cozy place in Inverloch. The place seems to be quite popular during the high season, a booking is certainly recommended – especially if you plan to come with >4 people. The food is great, the service very professional and friendly, Japanese beer is served (bottled Asahi and Sapporo on tap), you can also get Sake. The prices are a little bit on the higher side, I suggest simply because due to the relative small size and dependency on the high season’s guests that is acceptable for the good quality we received.

Looked in, basic, tired interior. For the prices charged, we expecting a culinary experience. Alas, average food at prices beyond fancy city establishments. $5 for a tiny bowl of boiled rice topped off the very unsatisfactory lunch.
