My siblings and I recently dined at The Union to celebrate my birthday. The food was absolutely divine. So fresh with amazing flavours. We loved the eclectic decor and ambiance of the restaurant. At the end of our evening the chef/owner came out to greet us and wished me a happy birthday. She chatted to us and we found her to be so warm and friendly. This was a lovely end to our evening. We will definitely be back.

We visited last Thursday night for my sister’s birthday. This place is really lovely and has a very quaint, eclectic & warm atmosphere. Food was delicious and the chef/ owner came out at the end of the night to ask us how everything was. She was lovely and explained how she gets everything in fresh from local markets. Highly recommend & look forward to taking our family here when we are next in town.

It was a 3.5 for me for this place! The serving portions are very generous, I was expecting something small as they were tapas! The garlic prawns were my favourite, but the bread was quite salty. The squid was nice but a little bland on its own, definitely need that lemon! Our lemon had a hair on it but the staff was quick to get us new ones. Friendly and happy staff 🙂 chorizo dish was a little too oily for me though! Otherwise a cute little place upstairs hehe

We came to the Union tonight for dinner and based on the menu I expected a couple of vegan options, which I was happy with, but upon arrival they had a few more! The food was very tasty and they easily accommodated myself and my gf companion. Would happily head back! All the food was very tasty and generous for tapas!

Amazing food and atmosphere. Chefs are lovely, welcoming and friendly, you can tell food is made with love. Will definitely be back. Hardest part was choosing what to eat as so much on the menu looked so good. Only managed to take a photo when we started eating because it smelt so good, couldn’t resist lol.

We went at 8 pm on a Tuesday. Was amazed at how busy it was which to me means it must be a decent place. Was very noisy because the sound just bounces off the walls so don’t go for a quiet meal or with anyone hard of hearing: that was frustrating at first because our group wanted to just talk. Even our server had problems hearing our order. At first the service was a little slow but as the night went on it improved. We got a selection of tapas to share and the food had great flavours and was very filling. The atmosphere was quirky and we had a good night. They didn’t kick us out even though it was getting late. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options which suited one of our party. Loved the arancini balls best. Would go again as i want to try all the other options.

I have fond memories of the union years ago, so when I decided to return here for me and my partners 4 year anniversary dinner, we were disgusted by both the food and the service. Despite being the only people there at the time, it took 10 minutes after we had put our menus down to be served. As the dishes came out we became more and more disappointed. Every dish was cool to the touch and tasted like it had been pre prepared days before and then poorly reheated.

The food was all very nice but honestly we wouldn’t come again. The place was so noisy it was hard to talk and the kids hated it because the couldn’t hear what anybody was saying and got very overstimulated by the noise. The sounds just bounce off the concrete walls as there are no soft furnishings at all to absorb it.
