Glorious setting, wonderful food and most helpful staff. The zucchini flower salad was sublime. Cannot fault our delightful lunch with friends today.

We visited Mclaren Vale December and the restaurant was recommended to us by another vineyard. Wow – the food was absolutely delicious! Homemade crusty bread and butter for the table and wine of course. Great service too. (In fact, I only write this now, as I look to see if the stuffed courgette starter is on the menu – the lemon flavours were divine and I would like to recreate it back in the UK. Please reply with the recipe 🙂

My wife and I had lunch with you on Sunday with the Sea and Vines Festival going on. The restaurant as you’d have thought was quite busy but in spite of this, all the staff were so friendly and accommodating you wouldn’t have known. As for the meal…………..wow. It was just fabulous. The beef cheeks cooked for 8 to 10 hours melted in your mouth. The wines were delicious and overall everything was first class. Well done everyone, you made our day such a memorable one.

The Kitchen door has changed management and we were very disappointed. The daring food is gone and it is just realy pub food. The mushroom entree was lovely and the chicken popcorn was nice. There were limited options for mains. I had the Atlantic salmon with no crispy skin with an over powering olive and onion jam. My husband had the braised beef and mushroom hot pot, which just tasted like I cook at home. The other chooses for mains were morrocan lamb, a steak sandwich or a chicken dish.

Great lunch .super attentive service, helpful staff. Food was to die for and compliments to chef Tom for full variety on menu. Our table of 8 all had different choices and all were thrilled yet jealous of each other’s choice . Lots of spoon sharing. The chocolate dessert defined gravity yet melted in the mouth . We were tourists visiting friends and probably will not get back but we definitely recommend you try it

It was amazing! I highly recommend it to families, they have such a great kids menu and if the kids don’t want anything on the menu they can choose anything off the main menu. The winery is so beautiful. The staff are so friendly and the food is delicious! By Imogen, 10yrs old

We were there on a Saturday for lunch and the food was great. Nice to see the a la carte menu but we went for the 4 course degustation matched with their awesome wines. Great food, a relaxed atmosphere and attentive service. 3 thumbs up and a lot better than when we were there about a year ago. Highly recommended and I did not even fancy a Big Mac after lunch.

Could not fault our meals or service. The Chargrilled snapper with spencer gulf prawn and bisque was superb. As was the earl grey tea souffle and vanilla bean icecream dessert. Service was friendly, efficient, and perfectly timed.

We had lunch here on a very quiet Tuesday afternoon. The service from our waitress was very good and the food (confit of duck) and wine (Grenache) was spectacular. Overall, a real good experience.

A long weekend away in South Australia is the perfect escape for a busy Sydneysider especially when you spend the majority of your time in McClaren Vale. I can highly recommend the steak at The Kitchen Door at Penny’s Hill winery, which is the home of the very quaffable Mr Riggs shiraz. It’s a great place to wile away a few hours
