The dish looked weird. The prawns were ok but the prawn fritters underneath the prawns were vile. Under the fritters was a great pile of sweet corn The sauce was the worst I have ever tasted. I couldn’t get the taste out of my mouth. The caramel banana sweet was good. I do not recommend the prawn dish at the top of the menu.

I had a late dinner and breakfast at Sandbar with some friends and honestly it’s one of the best breakfast menus I’ve seen in Australia so far. The coffee is local and excellent. You will have the choice between a savory or sweet brekkie (I personally opted for both ).

Had brekkie here and enjoyed sitting outside with our dog in the sun, it’s a great location near main beach & Love a dog friendly spot! Breakfast was delicious, highly recommend the smoked salmon with fritter. Coffee was great too and everything arrived to our table very quickly. Chef came out after a few minutes to check if we were enjoying our food but we’d already inhaled it, so yum!

Sensational meals, great ambience. Our party of seven enjoyed every aspect of our meal. Romain was our very attentive waiter, and we rated him 10/10. My son had the salmon, which he said was easily the best restaurant meal he has had in memory. We enjoyed the beef tartare and bone marrow, and oyster entrees, and mains of prawns, mussels, salmon, scallops and barramundi. This is easily the best restaurant in Yamba that we have eaten at.

An absolute gem!! This is simply the best place to eat. The food is delicious and it’s clear that much care has gone into serving superb meals. From scrumptious crab linguini to crispy barramundi in a creamy dill and leek heavenly sauce, who could wish for more! Oh hang on, I forgot to mention the desert- how to chose! In the end we went for cookie pie in a butterscotch sauce and raspberry Charlotte cake…..ohhhhh just yum! What a find. Do yourself favor and spend a long lazy lunch here.

We have stayed in Yamba only two nights but we had 4 meals in Sand bar and loved every single one of them ❤️! The staff is super friendly, music fantastic and all complements to the chef. If we ever come back, we’ll def be eating here again

We are staying at the motel and decided to go to the Sandbar for dinner – firstly they had no high chair so we had to sit our 15 month old on a regular chair – the kids meal was ridiculous, grilled fish – mash and ‘ salad’ (lettuce smothered in balsamic vinegar) our mains were terrible- the steak was stone cold and the hand cut chips not much better, the prawns we awful and over cooked – we left 90% on the plate. We decided to leave. Later feeling like we were still hungry we thought maybe dessert would be an improvement so ordered room service but the phone was off the hook so we had to go down to the restaurant again to order room service in person. We had asked to have the dessert delivered later because we wanted to have showers etc. but it was delivered quickly with the wait staff saying that they asked to delay it but the chef was ‘going off’. Then the dessert was basically unpalatable- the chocolate mousse was sickly sweet with the top 1/4 of the glass being almost 100% chocolate sauce that overpowered everything else as you had to dig throughout it to get at the rest and the ‘cookie cake’ was terrible as well. Feeling disappointed and hungry with no other option at 8pm for food we decided to order a cheese platter- surely they can’t mess that up right? We called and ordered but said we would have it as a take away and get it ourselves so the staff didn’t have to trudge up 4 flights of stairs again… only to have the chef yelling at the staff in the background that he wasn’t doing a cheese platter, the staff said it was a takeaway and it would be fine telling us 10 min. Less than 5 minutes later we receive a call stating that the chef had said we are being charged the room service fee as we are staying at the motel- I said that we are picking up and it’s not room service, the lady said she knew but the chef insisted, so I told them that they can deliver it up the 4 flights of stairs. When the food arrived, I told the polite young lady that this was not a reflection on her but the chef is rude and the food was horrible. She apologised and left, at lest we had our cheese platter .. that consists 3 cheeses, sliced pear, fig paste, walnuts and 6 thick cut slices of extremely stale bread that feels like cardboard. Don’t waste your time or money here
