Salt House is a unique dining, bar and entertainment venue offering a panorama of the ocean, marina and city on the waterfront in Cairns, Far North Queensland, Australia. Salt House has been designed to allow uninterrupted views of the changing colours of the ocean and mountains that encircle the city. Salt House offers a space that is glamorous, funky, chilled-out, progressive, stylish, calming, lively and welcoming all at once. There are several facets to this standard-setting venue: a large Restaurant area with a custom wood-fired grill and open kitchen, an outdoor cocktail bar surrounded by flowing ponds and fire features and a glowing bar in the front of the complex which showcases local and visiting bands and DJ’s 4 nights a week.

Massive restaurant in Cairns Harbor. Trendy spot for those who are looking for music, cocktails, and that upscale outside experience. We came for dinner and so long as we were away from the loud music it was a very nice meal. Our waitress was lovely, attentive without being overbearing, and helpful with the menu. We had the overnight braised pork belly which was a sizable and flavorful dish, as well as the roast pineapple and coconut curry with added king prawns. The prawns helped cut down the sweetness of the dish (between the pineapple and eggplant it was VERY sweet). We ended with single scoops of ice cream which was lovely and a great balance.

Unfortunately, for a high-end restaurant, you would expect the service to match, but it didn’t. The entre & mains serving size were generous, which you paid for. The length of time between staff attendance at table was very poor, e.g refilling wine & water glasses. Whilst there were only a few tables filled at lunch, our table was very unhappy with the service. Will not be revisiting.

Love this place. Bruschetta could have been a little less charred and a bit more garlic and whole potatoes were a bit odd plus personally not a big fan of rustic fries but that’s personal preference. Great vibes and lovely staff

Amazing food and wine. The service and atmosphere were great! Live music was playing the whole time we were there. Marco the sommelier made the evening even more special with his enthusiasm and knowledge about wine. We will definitely come back the next time we are in cairns.

Excellent cuisines and service! Salt house is the best Australian restaurant! We have had local fish roast, three oysters, local prawns and stakes. Those were memorial taste. If you want best dinner in cairns, you should go to Salt House!!!! I strongly recommend it!

Tasty, quality food with a happy, friendly atmosphere. The live music was excellent. The gluten free (GF) pizza base was actually properly cooked, thin & crispy! A great place to watch the sun go down with a drink after a day out and about.

We had a fantastic evening at Salt House. The setting is under cover but outside and we sat on comfy couches at a table. We had the seafood platter which was very generous and could easily have fed 3 people. Our teenagers had ‘kid’s meals’ – pizza and fish and chips – and they were as big as adult portions. The service was excellent. Leroy looked after us and he was very attentive and we had a great conversation. I would be happy to eat there again. Highly recommended

Excellent service, care and attention to detail on point, food delicious and served very promptly. Great waiter recommendations – and lucky enough to be my birthday so was treated with a complimentary glass of bubbles! Well worth the visit (oh and great views!)
