Mediterranean Dining in Newcastle
Rustica Newcastle Beach was established in 2011, and offers diners a varied menu featuring dishes from tapas, to main fare, that is typical of med-basin Mediterranean cuisine. Our chefs source local product where they can, including oysters, Upper Hunter lamb, and Hunter Valley verjuice.
The wine list is complementary to the menu, and some of Hunter Valley’s best drops, as well as some regional and international varieties from some lesser-known producers, provide ample selection that means everyone will find a glass or two to enjoy with friends. We also have lovely liqueurs, whiskeys, a comprehensive spirits selection, as well as some choice cocktails.

Second time at Rustica, following a lovely time with family in February. This time my husband and I were celebrating our anniversary. A beautiful restaurant in a gorgeous spot. Staff are welcoming and know the menu and wine list. The food was as gorgeous as least time. It’s an hour drive from home for us, but well worth it for the special occasion. Highly recommend the arancini and the gnocchi.

Went for my girlfriend and I’s dating anniversary. Staff were wonderful, wishing us a happy anniversary and were very polite. The kitchen agreed to my dessert request which made the night unforgettable!

Lovely laid back music contrasts with the bright and bubbly, friendly staff. Classy decor, with beautiful beach views. My partner and I got the lamb shoulder to share, and it was melt-in-your-mouth and falling-off-the-bone tender. Can recommend the whiskey sours, as well.

The service, ambiance, scallops, tartare, ragu pasta and steak were exceptional! It took almost an hour for our mains to follow entrees, but we had drinks to keep us occupied and enjoyed the time between courses. When my fish was still raw in the middle, the staff were very professional. Sincere apologies were given, the meal was replaced swiftly and less the bill. We understand that sometimes mistakes happen and appreciate how well it was handled. We shall be returning!

A wonderful environment and the food was amazing. We had half shell scallops, flash fried squid salad and wagyu as a main. Cocktails and wine. The steak was spectacular. The only downside was the popcorn panacotta which was not a flavourful as I expected. Overall happy with the service and will be back.

I would give 4 stars overall. Food here is small size and expensive if you compare to the nearby restaurant. Maybe because of it’s location. Happy to try at the first time when travel.
