By day, we’re known to slay a hard-won hunger with a double smoked beef and bacon burger or fish & chips. By night, a full rack of in-house smoked pork ribs or a deluxe seafood platter. A great restaurant with inside/outside dining. Fantastic menu & the staff are very friendly, attentive & efficient. Handled out party of 10 very well & even sang happy birthday to our table when they delivered the cake. They also have a takeaway next door if you want to picnic by the riverbank.

Our first night out after having our 4th child, celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary – Firstly, the entrees were fantastic, best part of our meal. We then had the paella for main for $40 for 2. The mussels weren’t good, and couldn’t open without jamming your knife in to open, only 2 out of 5 had mussel meat in them. The paella was pretty bland and noticed the chef hadn’t put the chorizo in. I asked the waitress about the mussels and chorizo, she kindly went and got them to correct the order, she then said the chef told her to tell us “there’s nothing we can do about the mussels, sorry” – the replacement mussels had the same problem and weren’t good to eat. The paella was better with the chorizo at least. I was left thinking, ok you’re a seafood restaurant and I paid $40 for this meal and there’s nothing you can do about it? That made it a poor experience for us eating at this restaurant unfortunately.

The decor is lovely. Lots of parking available. The honey garlic bread was very basic. Needs some work. Meanwhile the entrees of prawns and squid was cooked to perfection. We had the hot and cold seafood platter which were divine. Like the entrees the seafood cooked perfectly. We had bannoffee for dessert and the flavour was beautiful, not too sweet at all. the crumb/base could have been crispy. It was like soft crumb, but still yummy. Overall, pick the seafood!

Since the expansion of the Trench Avenue precinct, the quality of restaurants have generally been consistently good. The Riverbank wine bar certainly maintains the standard (including being a little on the premium side in regards to the pricing). Nevertheless the food was well presented, tasted great with a decent drinks list to compliment as well. Today (new year’s day) must have been a real test for the new kid on the block as they really struggled to cope with the demand. I am actually amazed that such a shortage of kitche staff can service both a packed restaurant and a takeaway front as well. Anyway I am sure they will serve as a lessons learnt for the next peak period. I am excited to have this venue in the neighbourhood and look forward to supporting it in the future.
