Authenticity is the order of the day with the best meats in town prepared front and centre for all to see on a traditional Parilla (barbecue) and Asado (pit of fire). This unique way of barbequing has been explored by Ben Milgate and Elvis Abrahanowicz, both from fine-dining backgrounds. All the meat, fish and vegetables are cooked over coals to capture that distinctive smoky flavour. Ben and Elvis have established solid relationships with a number of local farmers and producers and this has given them the chance to be inventive with the menu and to make the most of seasonal produce. Porteno’s complementary wine list boasts the largest selection of Argentinean wines in Australia that are all hand selected by co-owner Joseph Valore.

Tonight was incredible. The service x the food = fantastic. The butter, pork and the scallops were a must get. The portion sizing was huge and we had leftovers. The service was so attentive and they even put a little candle on our dessert for my bfs birthday. The only downfall was the noise inside – I would recommend sitting outside for some fresh air!

Love this place and have been a number of times. Meat is always cooked perfectly. Had pretty much everything on the menu. Chicken is actually a real standout, as was the wagyu, pork, marrow and basically all the entrees. Service was impeccable. I did think the skirt steak was slightly under seasoned, so hence the 4 stars. It isn’t cheap, but a great special occasion venue.

All the savoury dishes we ordered were absolutely amazing: the dry-aged rib eye steak, the woodfired bone marrow, the woodfired cheese, the wagyu fat fried potatoes, and a tune special. Really impressed and would come again. All the desserts though were nothing special.

Another of these hard to fault venues. Often something lingers when thinking how to review as a crux or an issue with a visit. Nothing at all. Service was professional but warm and friendly. The food was nailed right across the board from the whipped butter and bread to the medium rare ribeye and Flan. Love that for a Friday lunch I didn’t feel awkward or uncomfortable by the surrounds. Amazing venue highly recommend.
