A homey and cozy destination that offers classic Italian fare including pizza, pasta, veal,..etc. The menu is extensive with various portion size options; we ordered small sizes for everything and they still came larger than we expected. Decent prices and good service.

Our favourite pizza and pasta restaurant. After 2 months overseas a lunch trip to Papa Gino’s on a cold Melbourne day was exactly what was needed to lift our spirits. I ordered the Super Special and my wife ordered the Ortolana. Teamed it with a glass of Heathcote Shiraz and it was excellent as always. Service was friendly and efficient – well done folks. See you next time.

One of my favourite Italian restaurants in Melbourne! I always order the marinara riso. It has so much flavour and a lot of seafood in it. Staff was also very friendly:) pizza base is very thin and crunchy.

Papa Gino’s was my go-to Italian on Lygon street ever since my first visit in 2009. The pasta was incredible, the pizza crisp and full of flavour; but now the pasta is dry and lacks flavour with the carbonara being 95% pasta and minimal meat or sauce (and the eggs scrambled).

I’ve been to this restaurant a handful of times with mates and the food has always been great. The staff are professional and polite and the location is perfect for spending some time in the city. I definitely see myself going back plenty of times for this great Italian food.
