Fantastic little restaurant. If you like Indian food, then this is the place to go. Well-prepared food and always delicious. And consistent — I first visited this restaurant in January and had cause to visit Hobart again in September. The food was just the same. I stayed a week in Hobart and ate at this restaurant 3 times that week. Cosy atmosphere with excellent and courteous service. Old school.

Very disappointed, just look at the size of the peshawari nan, I’ve put a tea bag in the photo for size comparison. It was dry & didn’t taste fresh almost like cardboard. The Kadai Paneer was also very stingy & overwhelmingly tasted of pepper without the subltle flavours I would expect. I was swayed by the reviews but won’t be returning. I’ve been a lover of Indian food for over 50 years and was pained to give it a one star. I’ll stick with Anapuna next time which my usual Hobart Indian restaurant.

There were six of us and we enjoyed a hearty meal here. We chose a range of dishes, at different levels of spiciness. The classic palak paneer did not disappoint, and the chicken tikka was so popular that we ordered another portion. The beef korma was very mild and the lamb curry was delightfully spicy. The garden salad was fresh and complemented the many flavourful dishes we ate. We can debate if the food was authentic or not, but they all were delicious.

Really good saucy Indian food … been here before and will visit again. The roaring fire is especially appreciated on a damp & chilly night.

Magic Curries has a warm and wonderful atmosphere. The staff there have always been warm and friendly with their hospitality. Recently upon my visit I ordered Shahi Paneer & Cheese Butter Masala, and must say both were very flavourful. Creamy and super delicious!

Local and first time eating here. Will not go again. Food was average, didn’t get good service and we were seated in a pokey doorway $94 for around 12 pakora mushrooms, 4 thumb sized lamb chops, bowl of rice, 2 naans and about 9 prawns in a main dish +2 drinks… will stay with our local Indian restaurant in future

They don’t know how to handle customers. They don’t even bother to offer water and tissues and have worst customer service ever! They will say you cheap price and charge you way more than that. Never get your food from here as the food is far from par and the chefs only know how to add chilli and make is spicy as!
