I used to be a regular at Kanpai, but I’ve noticed some changes recently. The portion sizes seem to have gotten smaller, and they’re not as generous with the meat as they used to be. It’s a bit disappointing, as I loved coming here for the food. Hopefully, they can get back to their old generous portions. Otherwise really good Japanese food!

Kanpai is fantastic, Annie the owner is wonderful, hospitable and friendly. The food is mouth wateringly good. Recommend the grilled chicken in creamy garlic sauce, to die for! All dishes are very good, I used to live 2 min walk away and dined there every week. Tip:Book a table early Kanpai gets very, very busy after 7pm almost impossible to get a table. Excellent food and service.

Best reliable and casual Japanese restaurant in the area ! Have been going since it opened 25 years ago! James is the best in friendly, fast service with great quality food ! Highly recommend it. Always pretty busy but you won’t have to wait long for a table. Thanks and see you again soon. I have added some pictures of my favorite foods to order

Stopped by for dinner on work trip and was pretty disappointed from the moment I arrived. Miso soup had pieces of plastic, sashimi was only salmon and main course was salty and terrible. Would not recommend.

I’m now in the restaurant and can’t wait to provide my review. What a bad service that I have ever had. Mum and I is sitting outside and there is another 2 ladies sitting behind. The waitress only serve the 2 ladies and not even look at us. The waitress only provided menu and water to the 2 ladies and totally ignored us. I need to ask her for the menu and chopsticks and go inside to order. I was planning to order a lot of food to share with mum for dinner but now I have only order a noodle and a sushi roll because I really want to go. Apart from service the food was not good either as the noodle is very salty. I highly recommend people not to go there. Extremely bad !

Slightly busy on a Friday night as expected, quickly seated and ordered. The sushi/sashimi standard combination is slightly overpriced but tasted fresh & clean. Highly recommend any of the teppanyaki dishes, was pleasantly surprised by the taste despite the presentation. Also tried the tonkatsu which was definitely one of the better fried Japanese pork dishes we’ve had in town. Will return to try more of the mains
