Amazing food and lovely service. Chef and wait staff were very friendly as well as highly accommodating. The chef even coming out to meet us and share some prawn cooking advice. Overall Great experience would highly recommend.

We loved our first lunch there so much we went back a second time. Absolutely lovely food and service. If you appreciate excellent quality food and wine you will love it here. The gin and tonic we had was amazing too.

Delightful & relaxed lunch, superb quality cooking & produce. Be sure to try the prawns, & the aged Gruyère on our ‘Charcuterie’ platter was an unanticipated highlight. Here you’ll experience the best flavoured & silky smooth pates ever! Shall be returning to try the ‘Seaboard’ with a cheeky rainforest gin cocktail.

Easily THE BEST meal we have had in PD. Lunch only so plan it for your lazy day of a long lunch with an afternoon nap. Great food and wine knowledge – it is a place to go wine ‘by the glass’ so you try wines with different plates. Don’t be in a rush – this restaurant is like taking a Valium – you sit there, nibble away, totally relaxed with a silly grin on your face wondering what other delights will appear!!

My partner and I are locals of Port Douglas and fully support small businesses- especially when the food is so bloody good- we are big foodies! Marlene and Rohan make the finest of delicacies so simple and enjoyable. We have always had such a relaxed and enjoyable time popping in for lunch, everything is so moreish and the knowledge they both have about their wines and delicious foods really resonates in what they provide as a business. It is a special place for my partner and I and we love the smaller, comforting establishments such as the Epicurean – it’s just a lovely environment. I am always recommending them, they do such a fab job- you must pop in and try everything on the menu (I wish I could). Thank you Marlene an Rohan for being really hospitable and making each dine-in experience a pleasure 🙂 Jade and Sam

We came to Port Douglas for a few days and this restaurant was the only one we booked in advance. We couldn’t wait to taste the delights that the menu suggested and that previous diners had enjoyed. (based on the reviews, we knew it had to be special!). It was a special occasion for our long lunch so we settled in with a local gin (divine) followed by a bottle of Clover Hill Tassie bubbles (a favourite of ours!). Our first platter was the seafood choice and it didn’t disappoint. Fresh prawns, oysters and scallops featured and the taste was perfect. We then opted for the charcuterie platter with a delectable array of cheese, pastes and meats as well as a house made baguette, warmed perfectly. The house made pates were a highlight and there was absolutely none left in either jar. The platters are made with love and local fare and the owners clearly take pride in what they deliver. The service was first class and it makes it easy when you do what you love. We left with our bellies full after a beautiful long lunch that was everything we hoped it would be, and some.

Loved our casual yet fine dining lunch. Food and wine should always be paired and Epicurean does a fine job at this. The wine available is curated from small wineries from the southern wine regions of Australia. As an international visitor I enjoy trying the small business wineries and restaurants. We had a leisurely meal starting out with the special for the day of prawns with a glass of bubbly. Then moving on to a classic platter with a few different glasses of wine that my husband and I shared as we sampled all that was offered. One platter was plenty for the two of us.

This was a perfect lunch. The patè with that glaze was exquisite as was the duck leg on the red cabbage (not too much vinegar with a slight sweetness. Yum)

Dined here again today as this has become our favourite place to eat and drink in Port Douglas…actually, make that anywhere! The love and attention that goes into everything from the house baked baguettes, the mouth-melting cured meats, and the thoughtfully selected wines make this an experience that you can feel and absorb across the senses. If you are a fine food and wine buff, then this is what awaits for you in heaven (or wherever you might end up!). Or jump the queue and get it here now!
