This restaurant has been somewhat of a stronghold in Sydney, having operated for 29 years now, at various locations. Now its home is Darling Square in Haymarket. The restaurant opens out onto the forum area where you can dine whilst seeing the vibrancy of the area and take in the amazing architectural wonder of Darling Square and the exchange building.

Went to Chinta Ria on Saturday for Lunch. The food came within 15 Minutes so we didn’t have to wait long. There where plenty of guests sitting outside so we decided for an inside table. The restaurant looks clean and you can see the cooks in the open kitchen which is nice and adds to the atmosphere. We had Satchmo jr squid which where delicious also a bit on the sweet side. The chicken curry had a good and rich flavor. Terry’s beef rendang was a bit tough but the flavor was good. The Laughing belly pork again was a bit tough and I would have preferred a bit more tender pieces. Overall the taste is quite good and the restaurant in general is very nicely decorated.

So much to love about Chinta Ria. Very good quality food, excellent service, great wine, and the outdoor dining on Darling Square is delightful. It’s an experience that I’d be very content with at twice the price. I’m coeliac so I love how many gluten free options there are, including things I usually cannot go anywhere near like laksa, nasi goreng and spicy fried chicken. The tofu skin chicken rolls (“sassy rolls!”) are very addictive. I love the nasi lemak too for a good single lunch set. Rare that you can say a place is good for a work lunch on your own, a romantic dinner under the lit up trees, and somewhere to take picky parents! It’s been a hit with everyone I’ve brought here. Because it bears repeating (and for the google searches) – Gluten free laksa!!

I just had an amazing laksa at Chinta Ria. One of the best things for a cold night. They have indoor and outdoor seating, with heating for outdoors. Prices are really good for this Darling Harbor area just down from Chinatown. $10 corkage for wine. Impressive.

A good vibe here, with a bit of serenity in the middle of the city (not sure if I’m just saying that because of the name and the large Buddha that sits within the restaurant…). Overall, this restaurant had good service and a nice atmosphere. The food was somewhat hit and miss.
