Sadly very average Malaysian food. We ordered chicken ayam which was good and salt and pepper squid which was inedible. The squid was not fresh and we had one mouthful then no more due to the horrible taste of the squid. The rice came shoved into a tiny bowl complete lack of care by kitchen. Enjoyed the lighting and vibes of the restaurant, was nice a quiet on a Sunday night. We ordered prawns, a chicken curry and green beans. Food was good, but not a standout from other restaurants, especially for its price. Cool that it was a Malaysian x Thai fusion place though!

We usually go to Willoughby store but sadly found out it had permanently closed. So we drove all the way to the Newport branch. The store here is better maintained and food fortunately is just as good. The roti canai is simple but so tasty, the berempah pork belly was crispy and yummy but a bit too heavy on the seasoning and the green chicken curry was awesome – the fried chicken was so crispy and sauce was tasty. The coconut rice is great also. We were too full to have dessert so will need to leave room for next time ! Portions large and prices reasonable. Tables however are quite cramped together. Will be back !

Varied menu, delicious food, and friendly staff. They brought out a toy and plastic dishes for our little one which was a really nice touch as not every restaurant in the area will cater so well to kids. The portions were generous and the food was very tasty. The only thing that kept our experience from 5 stars is that our food for our party of four arrived one at a time over the span of at least 20 minutes which meant we all ended up eating at different times. Prices were very good for the quality of the food. Highly recommend a visit to Berempah if you’re in the Newport area.
