Social Profile:
In 2006, a group of friends comprised of a chef, an architect, an accountant, and a restaurant manager joined forces to open @Bangkok restaurant, where you could taste, feel and enjoy a meal with entertainment (live Thai music) for almost 24 hours in Central Sydney. (Haymarket). @Bangkok restaurant became the only Thai place that the food, drinks, and entertainment are available until dawn. (Open until 5.00 am on the weekend). At Bangkok restaurant was most welcomed by the Thai community and since then has become part of Thai town.
Fast forward to year 2020, a friend who is Newcastle local resident, asked our team to open another @Bangkok in Hamilton, Newcastle. We are quite reluctant at first thinking that our food may not be welcomed

Beef too tough, tom yum noodle soup has minimal meat apart from fish balls and fish cake (all noodles under that), pineapple fried rice is decent. Found all the dishes too sweet and starchy rather than savory.

Loads of free parking, big well spaced out tables and great food. The Pad prik Khing was outstanding, would definitely get it again. The boat noodle soup (pork) was top notch. Highly recommend this place. Many tables ordering the hot pots and serving sizes are generous. Drinks well priced too.

Fantastic place for dinner. Food is a bit more unapologetically spicy than other Thai joints and not deliberately watered down to suit more western tastebuds which is a welcome change. We had the green curry, fried chicken, thai papaya salad, pad kee mao, braised pork belly stew. All were tasty. The alleyway backyard is beautifully lit and decorated at night and I love how they jazz up this place- makes us feel like we’re exactly in Bangkok. Only downside they close quite early, last order 9pm.

This restaurant is the perfect go-to for a hangout. If you want to eat exciting and delicious food, don’t skip this place. There is nowhere comparable in Newcastle for an easy-going Thai experience, eg the number of street food dishes, Thai desserts and fun drinks.

The portion size for take away was smaller then expected for $18.90. I bought the Khao Gai Yang and it was mediocre at best. I hope they don’t give the attached packaging in the future as it felt like a scam. They put the sauce container UNDER the chicken to make it look like there was more chicken… WHAT ?!?! Half of the whole thing was just rice. That’s around $9 for a handful of rice. 3/10

Great place for dinner, I feel it’s under appreciated! The food is absolutely beautiful and there is a large menu. The place has a fun, street style, colourful vibe and you can have larger groups here as well as an outdoor area.

Tasty Thai street food influenced menu, some very interesting dishes that were a bit different to the standard Thai restaurant menu especially the Yum Pla Foo (crispy minced ling fish). Staff are friendly but occasionally a little hit and miss with orders. Fraction cool sitting out in the courtyard
